Jim is an author focused on creating dramatic action adventure novels that use professional sports as a backdrop for his hero’s adventures. Jim is a professional copywriter with over 30 years of experience in marketing communications and business media. For the last six years he has written novels. His unique story-telling style fuses together a love of sports and international intrigue into a thrill-a-minute extravaganza for readers.

Jim’s education includes a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London; a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary; and accreditation as a Certified Advertising Agency Professional from the Institute of Canadian Advertising. His talents helped earn his agency over 250 advertising and marketing awards during his tenure, including a Marketing Person of the Year honor. The Royal Box is Jim’s second novel, following the release of Big League in 2021. His third novel is in research and planning.

Bruce Dowbiggin’s career is unmatched in Canada for its diversity and breadth of experience . He is currently the editor and publisher of Not The Public Broadcaster website and is also a contributor to SiriusXM Canada Talks. His new book Cap In Hand was released in the fall of 2018.

His ground-breaking investigations into the life and times of Alan Eagleson led to his selection as the winner of the Gemini for Canada’s top sportscaster in 1993 and again in 1996. This work earned him the reputation as one of Canada’s top investigative journalists in any field.

He was a featured columnist for the Calgary Herald (1998-2009) and the Globe & Mail (2009-2013) where his incisive style and wit on sports media and business won him many readers.
